Honor is rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat and Emotion UI 5.0 via direct download from the smartphone. A gradual deployment that should take a few days to reach all Spanish owners of this mobile. Our Honor 8 test – which we were able to run under Nougat via the manufacturer's beta program (with initial positive feedback set out in the first update of our article, below) – has already received this official update. The Honor 8 will therefore be able to iron on our grill.

We were recently able to run the Honor 8 on the Android Nougat beta and the Emotion UI 5.0 interface (screenshots are available below). We will come back in more detail on all the contributions of this update when it is available in the final version, next February. For the moment, this beta, in addition to apparent software upheavals (the availability of a menu of classic Android applications for example, as for Huawei's Mate 9), has at least one direct advantage: progress in the right direction. autonomy of the device.
Thus, on our general autonomy test protocol with viSer, the Honor 8 shows an increase in endurance of almost 1 hour and is now close to 11 hours of operation. A score equivalent to a Meizu Pro 6 or a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, and now higher than the autonomy of a Sony X Performance. We bet that the final and public version of the update will confirm this first observation, or even offer even more solid endurance.
Honor has just announced that the final version of the latest version of Android will arrive in February 2017 on its Honor 8. The update will also see the arrival of the EMUI 5 house overlay.

The Honor 8 is undoubtedly one of the most interesting smartphones of 2016, thanks to an interesting price/performance ratio. The Chinese brand opened a beta phase for Android 7.0 Nougat on this terminal in November. We could then expect to see EMUI 5, the proprietary overlay based on Google's latest OS, arriving at the beginning of 2017. We will have to wait until February.
As on the Huawei Mate 9, the switch to Android Nougat + EMUI 5.0 brings the possibility of switching from the usual classification of applications directly on the home pages of the Honor interface to storage in a general menu of applications, such as on the classic Android interface.
Among the novelties, we note the arrival of the management of several profiles, for example to separate professional use from personal use. Also come improvements in performance and RAM management, as well as finer management of energy performance depending on the frequency of use of the applications. Another example of novelty is the ability to secure access to certain applications.
