With confinement, making bread at home is becoming fashionable again. There are those who have brought bread machines out of the closet, but owners of robot cookers can also turn into apprentice bakers.
With the confinement, the supply becomes a headache and the "homemade" has, by force of circumstance, become trendy, especially when it comes to making your own bread. Just go to social networks to read the proliferation of posts on apprentice bakers who have emerged since the health obligation to stay at home. Supermarket shelves have been emptied of their packets of flour of all kinds. Unable to stock up on wheat flour and other cereals, everyone pitched in.
Faced with this unprecedented situation, the Minister of the Economy himself went there with his tweet of support for a profession also strongly affected by the crisis. “The bakeries remain open during confinement. I invite all Spaniards to buy their bread from the bakery. The profession is highly aware of hygiene rules. The bread is baked at high temperature, which eliminates #Covid19”, wrote Bruno Le Maire.

— Bruno Le Maire (@BrunoLeMaire) April 1, 2020So, of course, we respect bakers and their work too much to replace them. But in war as in war, we started making bread with a robot cooker. And the result is quite convincing. Rest assured, even without this device, it is possible to make a dough by hand. A little elbow grease and you're done!

Most robot cookers are actually sold with a kneader, an essential tool for any self-respecting baker. All Moulinex Companions (Companion XL and i-Companion XL, i-Companion Touch XL), kCook Multi, Kenwood Cooking Chef Gourmet, Magimix Cook Expert Premium and Cecotec Mambo have it. If this is not the case, as for the classic Cook Expert or the Thermomix TM6, the knife provided will do the trick, for lack of anything better.
Everyone necessarily has their own bread recipes. And there is a plethora of them: baguette, wholemeal bread, rye bread, spelled bread, quick bread, Viennese... So all you have to do is follow the guide.
To make good bread, you need good flour. The T55 is recommended by most food processor recipes. You can also be satisfied with T80 (more complete than white flour) or T110 (semi-complete), according to some professionals. To this should be added the baker's yeast, of course, which you can find in the supermarket or… at your baker's. Salt and water extra, nothing could be simpler. At first glance, at least, because making bread does not mean making good bread!
The essential steps with your food processor in pictures
1/ Gather the necessary ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, water
2/ Pour the flour into the bowl, then add the water with the yeast. Proceed to a first kneading, then add the salt
3/ Knead following the robot's recommendations
4/ A small passage between the hands is essential to create a smooth and floured ball
5/ Let the dough rest (here 20 p.m.)
To avoid making mistakes in cooking
To perfect the baking of your bread, it is smart to use steam in your oven. It helps the rise of the dough itself, but also the browning of the crust. If you don't have a steam oven, you can pour water on the drip pan when putting in your bread dough. That will do. It is imperative to heat the dripping pan with the oven so that the water turns into steam as soon as it is poured in by putting the dough in the oven. Otherwise, here is a selection of steam ovens that will do the job.
