Preliminary information
Before explaining to you how to see the name of a WhatsApp contact, I have to give you some preliminary information about it.
In fact, you must know that the name of the WhatsApp contact is the one with which you registered the person in the address book of your device. To know this information, you just need to access it and locate the name of the person in question through the integrated search engine (perhaps starting from his phone number).
If, on the other hand, your intent is to know the real name of a person who you registered with a nickname or a generic registration on WhatsApp, the result I cannot guarantee: the only thing you can do is obtain the number of the contact in question and try to search for it online, to try to trace his identity .
That said, in the following chapters I will explain how to act through the WhatsApp application for Android (downloadable from the Play Store or from alternative stores) and for iPhone (downloadable from the App Store). Furthermore, it is also possible to attempt this “enterprise” using WhatsApp Web or the WhatsApp client for computer. For all the details, read on.
How to know the name of a WhatsApp contact
If you wonder how do you see the name of a WhatsApp contact, all you have to do is follow the instructions below.
Android
see the name of a WhatsApp contact on Android, first start the official app of the famous instant messaging service, by pressing on its icon located on the home screen and / or in the drawer of your device.
Then refer to the section Chat and use the search engine located at the top (theicona della lens d'ingrandimento), to search for the user of your interest on WhatsApp, typing the name with which you remember adding it to your device's address book or yours cellphone number: the first solution is suitable if you intend to trace the person's real name from a nick; the second if you want to go back from the mobile number to the name.
Alternatively, you can view the complete list of WhatsApp contacts by pressing thefumetto icon located at the bottom right of the main screen of the messaging app. In both cases, after identifying the contact, tap on it to view the dedicated chat, so as to make sure it is the person you are looking for.
At this point, if you want to know more about it, tap on his name located at the top, to display the contact information screen, which indicates, among other things, the telephone number of the user in question.
Now, if you intend to trace the real name of a person you registered in the address book with a nickname or a generic description, try to search his mobile number online following the instructions I gave you in my tutorial on how to trace the holder of a mobile number.
iPhone
To see the name of a WhatsApp contact from iPhone, you must first start the known instant messaging app via its icon located on the home screen.
Then, on the main screen, tap on the item Chat located at the bottom and use the Search Engine located at the top to identify the user of your interest, by typing the name with which you remember adding it to the address book of your device (if you want to try to find the real name from a nickname or a generic description) or its cellphone number (to go back to the name).
Alternatively, to see the list of all the contacts added on WhatsApp, press onsheet icon with pencil located in the upper right corner of the screen Chat, scroll through the list of contacts that will be shown to you and, if you wish, use the Search Engine to locate the contact of your interest.
At this point, tap his nominative, to open the dedicated chat, then press on his name located at the top so that you are shown the screen Contact info, which contains all the information relating to the user in question, such as the cellphone number.

WhatsApp Web / Destkop
If you are using WhatsApp Web or have downloaded the WhatsApp client for computer, you can search for the nominative with which you registered a contact in the smartphone address book (WhatsApp on PC is just a "repeat" of the smartphone app) or his cellphone number through Search Engine located in the upper left corner.
Alternatively, to easily find an added contact on WhatsApp, you can press onfumetto icon or icon capacitor positive (+) lead and thus access the complete list of all contacts added to WhatsApp. At this point, if you think you have found the contact you are interested in, click on his name, to view the chat dedicated to him and the related message history.
After that, tap on his again nominative, located at the top, to open the screen named Contact info in which there are all the information relating to the contact in question, such as the telephone number.
Proceed now as previously suggested: if, therefore, you want to trace the real name of a person, try to look for his mobile number online.
How to change the name of a contact on WhatsApp
After displaying a contact name on WhatsApp, would you like to be able to modify it? If so, you will be happy to know that this is possible: via the contact screen just press the button Modification to customize the name of the contact added to the messaging app.
