Although the application of WhatsApp is not officially available on tablets, in some cases you may still be able to download it via the Play Store, although you are told that the use of the app may not be optimized for your device.
So give it a try by running the Play Store by tapping on its icon (the symbol of a colored flag) which is located on the home screen of your device.
Then use the search engine at the top to type and locate the app icon WhatsApp and, if possible, install it by first pressing the button Install and then Accept. If your intention is to download WhatsApp on an Android tablet with SIM support, but you are unable to do so via the Play Store, following the instructions I have just given you, do not worry, there is an alternative procedure.
What you have to do, in fact, is to obtain, from the official WhatsApp website or from third-party websites (such as the APK Mirror site), the APK file you need to install the app in question.
In the first case, to download via the official WhatsApp website, start the browser in use on your device (for example Google Chrome), connected to this link and presses the button Download now on the page that is shown to you.
If you prefer to find the WhatsApp installation file from the site APK Mirror, download the file from this link, referring to the items All versions e Variant, to identify, respectively, the latest version of the app and the one compatible with the device you are using.
In both cases, in order to install WhatsApp, you must activate the option relating to unknown sources which concerns the installation of apps from sources other than Play Store.
To do this, if your Android device is updated to the version 8.0 or later, go to the menu of Settings, pressing on theicona dell'ingranaggio that you find on the home screen.
Then press on the items Security and privacy > Other > Install sconosciute app and then select the app you want to use to open the APK file, such as the browser you are using or a file manager app like Google Files. Finally, move the lever up ON, corresponding to the item Consenti l'installazione di app.
As for previous versions of Android, go to the app Settings of your device, by pressing the icon ofgear which is located on the home screen, select the item Safety and activate the option Unknown origin o Unknown sources, to allow manual installation of apps.
Now, expand the notification menu of Android, by swiping from top to bottom, select the icon of the downloaded apk file and start the app installation procedure, first pressing on NEXT and then Install e end.

How to download WhatsApp on SIM-free tablets
If you have downloaded the WhatsApp app following the instructions I gave you in the previous chapter, you must take into consideration that, when the app starts, you will be asked to register or log in via a phone number.
As I explained to you in the introduction of this tutorial, to use WhatsApp on a tablet you need a different mobile number than the one on which you use the smartphone application. In fact, it is not possible to have two users active at the same time on the same telephone number.
Having said that, when starting the app, accept the conditions of use by pressing Accetta and continue. Type the telephone number in the text field that is shown to you, making sure you have selected the correct prefix. Finally, press on the buttons NEXT e OK.
You will receive via SMS the verification code necessary for activating your account: type it in the next text field, if it is not automatically detected, to finish the activation procedure for the messaging service.

If you don't have a different phone number, you can use the service Web WhatsApp via the Whats Web Scan app for AndroidHowever, I warn you that it is full of advertising banners and its use is not very optimized, due to the presence of bugs: it is, in fact, an unofficial solution.
The best solution to use WhatsApp Web is to act through a browser (for example Google Chrome), activating the desktop view. After going to its website, connect your WhatsApp account. To do this, go to the section Settings app WhatsApp present on your smartphone and select the item Web WhatsApp you find on the next screen.
Then add a quick link to the home screen by first pressing the icon (...) top right and then on the wording Add to home screen in the Google Chrome drop-down menu.
How to download WhatsApp on Apple tablet
If you own a iPad and want to download WhatsApp on the latter, know that to perform this operation it is necessary to unlock the device by performing the jailbreak, as well as installing a tweak, that is a third party app, not officially approved by Apple, which is able to enable the operation of the service on the tablet "made in Cupertino".
However, I inform you that this operation invalidates the warranty of the device and that, moreover, it could make it more vulnerable to cyber attacks. Also, by installing the messaging app on iPad via this unofficial method, you will not be able to take advantage of the latest version available in the App Store.
Having said that, if despite the "cons" above, you want to jailbreak your iPad, follow the instructions in my guide dedicated to the topic in which I have indicated in detail how to carry out the procedure in question.
After jailbreaking, you need to download the tweak WhatsPad da Cydia, (the alternative app store available only on jailbroken devices), to proceed with the installation of WhatsApp.

Alternatively, you can use Web WhatsApp via some apps, such as WzPad. However, its use is not recommended due to a non-optimized user experience due to the presence of invasive advertising banners and numerous bugs that are often not fixed.
The best solution is to use Web WhatsApp da browser, activating the desktop view. Then start the browser you installed on the tablet you are using and connect to the official website of the service.
Next, scan the QR code that is shown to you on the screen, using the smartphone on which the app is installed WhatsApp associated with your mobile number (if you do not wish to repeat this procedure again in the future, put the check mark next to the item Stay connected).
