The fact that WhatsApp allows you to send an unlimited number of messages in a totally free way (Internet connection costs excluded) is extraordinary ... but it also has some minor drawbacks. Which? Count all the times your phone starts ringing continuously for WhatsApp notifications over the course of a day and you will have the answer.
Let's face it, we all have somewhat petulant friends and WhatsApp is one of their favorite tools to torture our ears. Fortunately, however, it is possible to contain the problem. If you want to know how, grab your smartphone and find out right away with me how to turn off WhatsApp without turning off the phone (sorry for the pun) or ... throw it out the window!
Before providing you with all the explanations of the case, however, I would like to make an important clarification: at the current state of the cosse WhatsApp does not include any special function through which to disconnect from your account. Consequently, to be able to turn off WhatsApp you will have to carry out a series of useful operations to make the app less invasive in certain circumstances and with specific users. In any case, don't worry, you will find everything explained in detail below.
Disable notifications
You want to turn off WhatsApp in the sense that you intend to disable the alerts related to received messages. Very well, then know that to do this you can act in two different ways: a generic one, which inhibits the alerts and / or sounds related to all messages, and a more selective one, which instead allows you to choose individual users or groups on which Act. You will find everything explained in detail below, both for Android and for the iPhone.
Android
If you have an Android smartphone and you are interested in turning off WhatsApp by turning off notifications, the first step you need to take is to start the app and go to the menu Settings of your smartphone (the icon of thegear found on the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device). You don't want to turn off notifications but only their sounds or their vibrations? If, on the other hand, you want to act only on a specific contact or on a given group, go to the tab Chat app and select the person or group you want to turn off notifications for. Then press on the name of the person or on the title of the group placed at the top of the screen, move up ON the levetta silent and choose whether to "silence" notifications for 8 hours, 1 weeks o Everlasting removing the check mark from the item Show notification.
Obviously, in case you have to think again, you can always and in any case cancel the various options seen together to turn off WhatsApp simply by returning the above items to the default settings.
iPhone
Do you own an iPhone and want to turn off WhatsApp by turning off all notifications? Then start the application, go to the tab Settings located at the bottom right and select the icon Notifications from the menu that opens. Move up OFF the levers relating to notifications for messages and groups and that's it.
If you don't want to turn off notifications completely but only their sounds, go to the menu Notifications Settings of WhatsApp, select the item Sounds for messages, groups and calls and select the option Nobody from the screen that opens. Alternatively, to completely disable WhatsApp notifications on iPhone, go to the menu Settings iOS, tap on Notificationsselects the icon di WhatsApp and move up OFF the lever that you find corresponding to the option Consenti notified.
If, on the other hand, it is your intention to turn off WhatsApp by turning off notifications for a single contact or group, you must start WhatsApp, go to the tab Chat application and select the person or group you want to "silence". Then press on title bar located at the top of the screen, select the item silent from the menu that opens and choose whether to disable notifications for the contact or for the group selected for 8 hours, 1 weeks o Everlasting.
Even in the case of the iPhone, if you have to think again you can always and in any case cancel the various options seen together to turn off WhatsApp simply by returning the above items to the default settings.
Deactivate the read receipt and the last access
Instead of turning off WhatsApp by disabling notifications, you simply want to prevent other users from contacting you and for this you want to remove the confirmation of reading messages (the double blue check) or the date of your last access (the one that is displayed in the title bar application)? No problem, below you will find explained how to do it, the procedure is practically the same on both Android and iPhone.
- To deactivate the confirmation of reading messages - Start WhatsApp, go to the menu of settings and select the voc Account. Then go up Privacy, uncheck the option Read confirmations And that's it. The setting has no effect on groups, where read receipts will remain active.
- To deactivate the last access date - Start WhatsApp, go to the menu of settings and select the item Account. Then go up Privacy, fai tap sull'opzione Last access and choose not to show the information to Nobody.
Please note: The settings in question provide for reciprocity between WhatsApp users. This means that if you deactivate the last access or the blue ticks, not even you will be able to see the read receipts or the date of the last access to WhatsApp of your friends and vice versa.
Delete the account
You are not interested in deactivating the notifications on WhatsApp and not even the reading confirmation and the info relating to the last access but do you want to turn off WhatsApp permanently by deleting your account? Well, the choice seems to me a little, how to say, drastic but the decision is up to you so ... if this is what you want I can not help but give you all the information you need.
On both Android and iPhone, to be able to delete the WhatsApp account, all you have to do is start the app, go to the menu related to settings e selecionare prima la voce Account and then that Delete account from the latter. Then type in your mobile number, press the button Delete account And that's it.
Further solutions
You do not want to silence the notifications as I have explained to you in the previous lines but you want to be invisible on WhatsApp for some specific users?
