As anticipated at the opening of the post, WhatsApp imposes limitations regarding the maximum size of individual files that can be sent to other contacts in chat.
To be precise, the maximum weight allowed for all multimedia files to be sent or forwarded (therefore not only videos but also photos and voice messages), is equal to 120 MB su Android, 128 MB su iOS e 64 MB su Windows, MacOS and by web interface. In the case of recorded videos directly through the WhatsApp app, however, it is not possible to exceed the limit of 16 MB.
By virtue of this, to be able to send a more "full-bodied" video you need to first compress it, in such a way as to reduce its size or, alternatively, it is necessary to rely on heavy file sharing services. Another available option is the one related to cloud sotrage, by going to upload the file to an online space and sharing only a link on WhatsApp.
How to send a heavy video on WhatsApp from your smartphone

Compress heavy video on Android
Stai using one smartphone Android and would you like to understand how to compress videos on your device to be able to send them via WhatsApp? Then I suggest you rely on the application Video Compress, which allows you to reduce the weight of video files by selecting the final quality yourself. As an alternative to as I just indicated, you can personally adjust the video compression parameters by going to the tab usage and moving the sliders that you find under the items Video resolution e birate (bits per second) as you prefer. To start the compression, then, press the button Compressed Video.
If you want, before starting the video compression procedure, you can also choose whether to remove the audio from the video and make it become black and white, by selecting the appropriate options at the top.

Compress heavy video on iPhone
Che che stai using è a iPhone, to send a heavy video on WhatsApp you must, even in this case, carry out the compression in advance. To do this, you can rely on the app Smart Video Management which allows you to compress files in MPEG-4 and MOV format, reducing their size up to 80%, without excessively burdening the final quality. It's easy to use and free, but offers in-app purchases (costing $ 2,29) to remove the ads.
To use it, visit the relevant section of the App Store directly from your device, press the button Ottieni / Installa and authorize the app download via Face ID, touch ID o Password Apple ID. Then, tap the button apri to start the app or press on its icon which was just added in Home Screen.
Now that you see the main screen of the application, select the video quality of your interest from those available, choose the video to be compressed from the photo library of your iPhone, press on the item Choose and wait for the procedure to be completed.
At the end of the process, you will be shown a data of how much it was possible to reduce the size of the video and you will be asked if you want to delete the original file or not. If you want to keep both files, click on the button Cancel, otherwise select that Delete.

Send heavy video on WhatsApp
After compressing the video, you can finally proceed with sending the file through WhatsApp. To do this, open the app of the famous messaging service for Android or iPhone, go to the tab Chat and proceed as follows.
- If you use Android, select the conversazione in which you intend to send the video among those already in progress or start a new one, by pressing the button with the comic located at the bottom right and choosing the contact or group of your interest. In the conversion screen that you now see, click on the icon clip placed in the text field below, tap the button Gallery, select the previously compressed movie and press the button with thepaper airplane at the bottom right to proceed with sending.
- If you use iPhone, select the conversazione in which you want to send the video from those already in progress or start a new one by pressing the button with the paper and the pencil at the top right and then choosing the contact or group of your interest. In the conversation screen that you see at this point, tap the button [+] located at the bottom left, select the item Photo and video library, select the compressed video from your device's photo library and press the button with thepaper airplane at the bottom right to proceed with sending.

How to send heavy video on WhatsApp from computer
You would like to understand how to send heavy video on WhatsApp by acting from computer, through WhatsApp client for Windows and macOS or Web WhatsApp? No sooner said than done! Find all the explanations you need right below. It is much simpler than you might think, fear not.
Compress heavy video on Windows and macOS
If you are looking for software for Windows e MacOS that allows you to compress a particularly heavy movie and then send it on WhatsApp, I suggest you try Adapter: it is a free program, which supports all major video file formats and includes several conversion profiles specifically designed for smartphones, tablets and video game consoles. It is available for both Windows and macOS.
To download it to your computer, go to the program's website and click on the button Download Adapter which is located at the top.

Se, invece, stai using a Mac, april il package .dmg just got it and drag theAdapter icon in the folder Applications Of computer. Next, right click on it, select the item apri from the context menu and click on the button apri, in such a way as to start the program going to circumvent the limitations imposed by Apple on applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start). Even then, you may see a warning about the download of FFMPEG.
Now that, regardless of the operating system used, you see the Adapter main window on the screen, drag the video you want to share on WhatsApp over it. Next, expand the menu Video located at the bottom and select the output format of your interest (you can also choose the same as the source file, if present).
If you want to fine-tune the resolution and quality of the output files, click thegear located at the bottom right to bring up the program settings panel and define the values of the drop-down menus as you see fit Quality.
To conclude, click on the button Convert located at the bottom and wait for the compression procedure to be completed. By default, the output file will be saved in the same location as the source file.

Send heavy video on WhatsApp
Once the video is compressed, to be able to send it via WhatsApp from your computer, start the application of the famous messaging service by clicking on the relative collegamento place on the desktop or annexed to Start menu, in the case of Windows, or through the Launchpad, Spotlight, Crab or folder Applications, if you are using MacOS. Thanks to these resources, in fact, you can upload the file of your interest on the Internet and share it with your contacts via a simple link, which will be generated automatically.
If this catches your attention, below you will find listed some of the services that allow you to do this: you can use them both from your computer and from your smartphone.
- WeTransfer - another service part of the category that allows you to upload files online with a maximum size of 2 GB, which can then be shared via link or email. It's free and there is no registration requirement, but by subscribing to the paid plan (at a cost of 12 euros / month) you can send files up to 20 GB at once and you can unlock other extra features.
- File Dropper - free web service that does not require registration and that allows you to upload files online with a maximum size of 5 GB, which can then be shared with other users via the link that is generated. It should be noted that, possibly, it is also available in a paid variant (with a base cost of $ 0,99 / month) through which it is possible to take advantage of the relative file hosting service.

Cloud storage services
As I had anticipated, another system you have on your side to be able to send a heavy video on WhatsApp is to rely on the use of cloud storage service, which do not have limitations in terms of maximum size of files that can be uploaded (although they have limits on the maximum space that can be occupied on them).
You can use it both from your smartphone and from your computer by uploading the video of your interest and then sharing the generated link via WhatsApp.

It allows you to store files online using an advanced encryption system. Basically it's free and offers 50GB of storage. The available storage can eventually be expanded up to a maximum of 8 TB, but paying (with prices starting from 4,99 euros / month).
