Preliminary operation
Before explaining to you how to put Touch ID on WhatsApp, let me show you a few preliminary operations that must necessarily be performed in order to use the function in question. Coast am I referring to? Of course, you set up Touch ID on your iPhone by registering one or more fingerprints on the phone.
As you probably already know, Touch ID only works if an unlock code has been configured on the iPhone and can manage up to 5 fingerprints. If you followed the initial iOS setup procedure, Touch ID should already be active on your device; otherwise you can configure it now too.
To proceed, launch the app Settings by tapping on the gray icon with gears present on the Home screen of your "iPhone by", then press on the item Touch ID and codice. Now, type the unlock code that you have set on your iPhone and make sure that the switch levers located in correspondence with the items Unlock iPhone e Password filling sia spostata her ON (otherwise you do it yourself) and, if necessary, choose if Add a footprint to those managed by Touch ID or modify an already registered one.
To delete a previously configured fingerprint, you must select it (eg. Finger 1), delete it by tapping the button Delete fingerprint and create a new one, selecting the wording Add a footprint (in the screen Touch ID and codice).
To set up a new footprint, all you have to do is place your fingertip on the Home button iPhone (without pressing the latter), lift it and place it again several times, following the instructions that will be provided on the screen
When the wording appears on the screen Adjust the grip, tap on the item Continue and lift and rest your fingertip on the Home button several times. When finished, the fingerprint should have been successfully registered. Tap the button Continue place at the bottom and that's it.
If you have an iPhone with Face ID and not Touch ID, you can configure the latter by going to the menu Settings> Face ID and passcode, by entering the phone unlock PIN and selecting the entry for the Face ID configuration. More info here.
Update WhatsApp
As I mentioned in the introduction to the article, in 2019 WhatsApp has introduced the function that allows you to protect your conversations with the touch ID (come on iPhone X and later models, with the Face ID). For this reason, if you want to have the function in question, make sure you have installed the latest version of WhatsApp.
update WhatsApp "Manually", start theApp Store (by pressing the icon representing the "TO" stylized on a light blue background located on the Home screen), search for WhatsApp in the latter and select the app icon from the search results. In the screen that opens, check if updates are available for WhatsApp: if so, press the button Update, to start the download.
If you want, you can activate the automatic update function of iOS, so as to automatically download the updates available for WhatsApp. To do this, open the app Settings by tapping on the gray icon depicting the gears which is located on the home screen, then tap on the item iTunes Store and App Store and move the lever from OFF a ON, in correspondence with the wording Updates.
If you want the updates to be downloaded also using your carrier's data connection, remember to move to ON also the lever located in correspondence with the wording Use cellular data.

How to put Touch ID on WhatsApp
Now let's see the crux of the matter and let's see how to put the Touch ID on WhatsApp. To begin with, start the famous instant messaging app on your iPhone and go to the settings of the latter.
To do this, tap the button Settings located in the lower right corner of the screen, select the items Account> Privacy and then tap on the item Screen lock at the bottom of the displayed screen. Now, to activate the Touch ID (or Face ID) request to unlock WhatsApp and access the conversations in the latter, move to ON the switch lever placed in correspondence with the wording Request Touch ID.
Finally, choose when the time to activate the Touch ID request by selecting one of the four available options: Immediately, Dopo 1 minute, After 15 minutes o Dopo 1 hour.
Mission complete! From this moment on, to access WhatsApp, you will be asked to use the Touch ID: place the ditto whose fingerprint you have previously registered on Home button to authenticate you. If for some reason your fingerprint is not recognized, you can always use the unlock code that you have set on your "iPhone by".
How to remove the Touch ID on WhatsApp
In case you have second thoughts and want to remove the Touch ID on WhatsApp, all you have to do is go to the settings of the famous messaging app and disable the function in question.
To proceed, then, start WhatsApp on your iPhone, go to Settings> Account> Privacy > Screen lock and move up OFF the switch lever placed in correspondence with the wording Request Touch ID. Once the operation is complete, you will no longer be asked to log in to WhatsApp by authenticating with your fingerprint (or your face).
How to put Touch ID on WhatsApp for Android
I use one smartphone Android and not an iPhone? Don't worry: if you want, you can also block access to the application via the fingerprint sensor (or facial recognition).
