Preliminary operation
As I told you at the beginning of the post, if you have not changed the default password of your Alice modem, you can find it in the documentation supplied with the device. Consequently, before venturing into reading the entire article, you can try to see among the various manuals provided with the modem if the information you need is contained within them.
If you no longer have the paper documentation of your modem, you can find it in digital format by visiting the appropriate section of the TIM website, selecting your modem model from the appropriate drop-down menu and then clicking, in sequence, on the item User manual and on the button Download.
Keep in mind, however, that the default modem password is usually also reported on the device itself, on alabel specially affixed to the back or bottom.
If by carrying out the operations I have just indicated you are unable to find the Alice Wi-Fi password because the one obtained no longer corresponds to the one currently set (because it was changed later), in order to use the default access key of TIM, you must first reset the router by pressing the appropriate button on the back of the device (it should be a small black button recessed inwards). Alternatively, you can try to contact the customer care of TIM following the procedures I indicated in my tutorial on how to talk to a TIM operator. I already anticipate that there are several ways to get assistance, both by phone and through social networks, so feel free to choose what you think can do the most for you.
How to find Alice Wi-Fi password from computer
By following the instructions I gave you in the previous lines, have you failed to achieve your goal? Then go ahead and put into practice the instructions given in the paragraphs below: you will find explained how to trace the Wi-Fi password generated by the Alice modem by acting as a computer or by using Windows and MacOS.
Windows
If you have stored the password of your Wi-Fi connection on the computer with the installed on Windows 10 or Windows 8/8.x, you can easily retrieve it by clicking on thenetwork icon which is found innotify area (Quella with il white monitor or the one with the cleats located next tosystem clock, bottom right) and choosing the item Open Network and Sharing Center give the menu to compare.
In the window that is now shown on the screen, click on connection name Alice that you find under the heading Internet and click sul bottone Details.
Se, invece, stai using Windows 7 or a previous version of the Microsoft operating system, you must proceed as follows: click onnetwork icon which is always found innotify area Windows, right-click the Alice's connection name and choose the item Property give the menu to compare.
At this point, regardless of the version of Windows used, in the window that opens, select the tab Safety, metti il segno di spunta accanto alla voce Show characters and the password of the wireless connection will appear, in clear text, in the field Network security key. Easy right?
If you can't find Alice's connection password in this way, try to cope with it using WirelessKeyView: it is a small free program that displays all the passwords of wireless networks stored in Windows on a single screen. It is extremely effective and requires no installation in order to function.
To download it on your PC, connected to its official website, scroll down the page and click on the item 32-bit WirelessKeyView download (if you are using a 32-bit operating system) or on voice Download WirelessKeyView for x64 (if you are using a 64-bit operating system). Next, select the link city which you can find in the table below to download the file for the cittàn translation.
Once the download is complete, extract both ZIP archive obtained in the same position, open the .exe file and click on the button Yes in the window that is shown on the screen, in order to start the program. If available, you will find the Wi-Fi network password generated by the Alice modem in the column Key (Hex) and the name of the network corresponding to that Network name.
MacOS
Purposes MacOS? No problem. You can find the Alice WiFi password stored on your computer even then. To do this, you can use Portachiavi access, an application included in all Apple-branded computers, thanks to which it is possible to store both locally and in iCloud all the login data typed on the computer, including the passwords of the wireless networks to which it has been accessed.
To use it, open Keychain Access by clicking on its icon (Quella with him keys) found in the folder Other of Launchpad. Alternatively, launch Keychain Access via Spotlight, Crab or by accessing the path Applications> Utilities from the Mac.
In the window that opens, click on the item System present in the menu on the left, then on the wording Password in the section Category (always placed on the left) and then double click on connection name Alice that you find on the right.
In the further window that will open at this point, select the option Show the password, type the Password of your account on macOS and press the button OK. If necessary, type the your account name and re-enter the relative Password, then click on the button Allow. Once this is done, the wireless network password will be visible in the field Show the password.
How to find Alice Wi-Fi passwords from smartphones and tablets
As I told you at the beginning of the guide, you can find the password of the Wi-Fi connection generated by your Alice modem also by acting as a smartphone and tablet. You ask me how to do it? To find out, go ahead and read. Find explained how to intervene on both Android that of iOS of my own right.
Android
Stai using a smartphone or tablet Android, you can trace the password used to establish the connection to the Wi-Fi network of your Alice modem using the application WiFi Key Recovery, which acts by identifying the access keys of the wireless networks stored on the device and displays them in an orderly manner. It is totally free, but it must be taken into account that it needs root to work.
To use the application, first download it by visiting the relevant section of the Play Store and tapping the button Install. If necessary, authorize the download by also clicking on the button Accept. Then start the application by pressing the button apri appeared on the screen or by selecting the relevant icon which was added to the drawer (the Android screen where all applications are grouped).
Once the WiFi Key Recovery main screen is displayed, you will be able to consult the list of all the Wi-Fi networks saved in the system and the relative access passwords (after granting the app root permissions, by pressing the button Allow).
Then locate the Wi-Fi connection of your Alice modem and that's it! If this interests you, I also point out that by tapping on it you can copy the password to the clipboard and possibly also distribute it in the form of a QR code.
I also point out the existence of the free app Fastweb.Alice.WiFi.Recovery, which allows you to identify the default passwords of some old models of TIM routers (and Fastweb) by exploiting the data present in some databases disseminated long ago. However, the application is not available on the Play Store, so it must be installed after activating the support for unknown origins in the device settings, as I explained to you in detail in my guide on how to install APK.
Once in use, the app analyzes the networks available in the area and by selecting the one of interest, it tries to identify the password and then shows it on the screen.
iOS
If, on the other hand, what you are using is a device iOSiPhone or iPad, you can find the Alice Wi-Fi password using the app Wifi Pass, which uses a database leaked on the Internet years ago to trace the default access keys of the old modem / router of Alice and Fastweb. Clearly, if the default modem password has been changed, the application is ineffective.
To download it, visit the relevant section of the App Store, tap the button Ottieni / Installa and authorize the download via Face ID, touch ID o Password. Next, launch the app by pressing the button apri appeared on the screen or by selecting the relevant icon which was added to the Home Screen.
Now that you finally see the Wifi-Pass main screen, select the entry Alice at the bottom, type the connection name of your interest in the appropriate field and press the button Calculate. Then wait for the app to analyze the database and the specified Wi-Fi network and if the password is available it will be immediately shown on the display.
How to find Alice Wi-Fi password from the modem administration panel
You can view (and change) the Alice Wi-Fi connection password also by accessing the administration panel of the modem. To do this, first start the browser (eg. Chrome) that you generally use to surf the Net from your computer (or from your mobile device, you can do everything from there too) making sure that the device is connected to the wireless network of your interest.
Once the on-screen navigator window is displayed, type, theIP address of the modem, which should be 192.168.1.1 o 192.168.0.1, in the bar at the top and press the button Submit on the keyboard. If you are asked to also type some login credentials, try the combinations admin / admin or admin / password, which are the default ones. If the IP address of the modem and / or the login credentials are incorrect, you can remedy this by reading my guide on how to enter the Alice modem.
Once logged into the administration panel of the router, first click on the item Wi-Fi present in the left sidebar and on the button Configure Wi-Fi Network located at the bottom of the page that opens. You will then find the password of the wireless network in correspondence with the field Encryption key.
