General info on Facebook groups
Before giving you all the necessary information on what to do, it seems only right to provide you with some more info about the nature of a group in general and that of secret groups in particular.
Groups are, in very small terms, "virtual places" where people who share parental ties, work or a passion can meet, discuss and share multimedia material of various kinds. In short, as I proceeded to explain to you in more detail in my article on how to create a group on Facebook, they reflect a bit what happens in groups and parties in "real life".
Depending on the degree of privacy that is set, they are divided into different types: i public groups, which allow anyone with a Facebook profile to sign up, and i closed groups, which can be searched and viewed by anyone but only members can post and see the contents on the group's bulletin board and furthermore, to subscribe, the submitted request must be accepted.
Then there are the secret groups, those object of this guide, which are in fact "invisible" (if searched for, they do not appear!) and to become part of them it is necessary receive an invitation by those who are already a member. Another way to be able to join a group of this type is to ask the administrator of the group to momentarily modify their privacy setting one of the two aforementioned options.
Taking into account what has just been written, in the following lines I will then explain to you how to find a secret group on Facebook using the "techniques" mentioned above. Unfortunately there are no other systems, at least not at the time of writing this article.
Find a secret Facebook group from your computer
Now that you finally have a clearer idea about the nature of groups in general and that of secret groups specifically I would say that you are finally ready to take the real action. So let's find out how to proceed to find a secret group on Facebook. Below you will find indicated how to do it from a computer.
first method
Based on what is written in the previous lines, the first system you can adopt to be able to find a secret group on Facebook is to get invited by some of your friends who are already part of it.
To do this, your friend must go to the Facebook home page, access their account and then visit the group page by clicking on the relevant name attached to the left sidebar or by searching for it using the appropriate field at the top of the social network. , he must then press the button Other present the cover image of the group and must choose, from the menu that appears, the option Add members.
In the box that and this point will open, your friend will have to enter your name (or your e-mail address) and then click on the button Add.
In addition to the above, your friend who is already part of the secret group of your interest can add you to it by typing your name (or your e-mail address) in the field Enter your name or e-mail address ... present in the box Add members placed on the right side of the group page.
When the invitation is sent, you will receive a notification on Facebook and you will see the icon "light up" with the globe which is at the top right of the social network page. Click on it and a menu will open with a notification of the type inside Username has invited you to join the secret group Name Group (instead of Username find the name of the person who sent you, while in place of Group name find the group name).
All you have to do is click on the notification. By doing so, you will be immediately redirected to the group page. Done! In this way, you are not only able to find the group but now you are also registered. Happy?
second method
As an alternative to the above system and always on the basis of what is stated in the first step of this guide, another system that you can adopt to be able to find a secret group on Facebook is to ask some of your friends who are already part of it and who administers the group itself or is in contact with the administrator to temporarily change the privacy of the group.
To do this, the administrator of the reference group must first go to the group page by clicking on the name of the person in the left sidebar of Facebook or must search for it using the bar at the top, then you have to press the button Other which is under the cover image and must select the item Change settings from group from the menu you seem.
On the next page, you should locate the section Privacy, click the button Change privacy settingsselect Closed or Public and press Confirmation for two consecutive wants.
Once this is done, you will be able to find the group that was previously secret by carrying out a simple search through the top bar of Facebook, typing its name and then selecting the emerging result from the list that appears.
If you want, you can refine your search by selecting the tab Groups that you find on the page dedicated to the results in such a way as to display only the groups responding to the name entered. You can then further filter the results using the options on the left, in correspondence with the wording Filter results.
Once you have found the group, if you want to subscribe to it, just click on the button SUBSCRIBE that you find next to his name. To first view its contents and other useful information that may be visible, you can click on the relevant name and explore the various sections (Information, Discussion cc.) that are on the left. If you want, you can then subscribe from the group page by clicking on the button Join the group placed at the top. Easier than that?
Find a secret Facebook group from mobile
As I told you at the beginning of the guide, finding a secret group on Facebook is also feasible from mobile, using the social network app for Android and iOS (as well as for Windows Mobile). Let's see how, you will find everything explained in detail right below.
first method
First, let's try to figure out how to find a secret group on Facebook by acting as a mobile by being invited by a friend who is already a member.
In this case, the first move that your friend must make is to grab his smartphone, access the screen where there are all the applications and press the Facebook app icon (the blue one with the "F" printed above").
Once the main screen of the app is displayed, you must access the secret group by tapping its name after typing in the search bar at the top or by tapping the button with the three lines horizontally then he has to press the button Add under the cover image, must select your name from the list of users that appears and must press on the item end top right.
After doing this, you will receive an appropriate notification. Hence the symbol of the bluebell attached to the main screen of the social network app and then on the notification Username has invited you to join the secret group Name Group (instead of Username find the name of the person who sent you, while in place of Group name find the group name). Done! By doing so, not only will you be able to view the group page but you will also be subscribed to the group.
second method
As per the desktop, the second system you have at your disposal to succeed in the enterprise is to ask some of your friends who are already part of the "offending" group and who administer it or who are in contact with the administrator to temporarily change its privacy.
To do this from mobile, the first move that the group administrator must make is to access the group by searching for it via the search bar at the top of the app screen. Alternatively, you can press on the relevant name after tapping on the button with the three lines horizontally and then on the voice Statistical tools and data for administrators which is under the cover of the group on the next screen.
Once this is done, your friend will need to select the item Settings and then the wording Privacy after which he will have to choose between Public or Closed. The changes will take effect immediately.
At this point, you can search for the group by typing its name in the search bar at the top of the Facebook app. You can then possibly refine the search so as to view only the groups by tapping on the item Groups placed at the top of the displayed screen and taking advantage of the additional filters available, always placed at the top.
Once you have found the group, press the button SUBSCRIBE placed next to your name to sign up right away. If, on the other hand, you want to view info, contents, etc. first, stop on the group name and explore the various sections available (Information, Discussion etc.). To subscribe, press the button Join the group and it's done.
In case of problems
Despite having strictly followed my instructions, is there something that is not yet clear to you about how to find a secret group on Facebook? Is there any other problem or concern related to Facebook about which you would like to receive more information? If that is the case, I strongly suggest that you visit the Facebook Help Center so that we can resolve any hitches you may have encountered after reading my tutorial.
You can find a rather comprehensive answer to your questions by typing the keyword (eg. secret groups) which identifies your problem in the search bar at the top or, alternatively, by reading one of the articles that you find in the section Popular topics.
Please note that the Facebook Help Center is also accessible through the social network app for smartphones and tablets. You can find it by pressing on the symbol three lines horizontally on the main screen and then pressing on the item Service center (on Android) or on Service and Support> Help Center (on iOS). As for the use, the operation is good or bad similar to what we saw together just now on the desktop.
