Access the Deep Web from a computer
It is your intention access the Deep Web and to the Dark Web from your computer, the first thing you need to do is download Tor Browser. In case you've never heard of it, Tor Browser is a modified version of Firefox configured to connect to the Tor anonymization network and protect the user's identity online. It is completely free, requires no complicated configurations and is compatible with all major computer operating systems: Windows, macOS and Linux.
To download Tor Browser on your computer, click here to connect to the official website of the program, scroll down the page until you get to the central table and click on your voice 32 / 64-bit located in the column Windowsand in the row cittàn (it) to download the Windows version of the program or on the item 64-bit located in the column Mac OS X and in the row cittàn (it) to download the program version for Mac.
To download completed, a PC Windows, open the file torbrowser-install-xx_it.exe that you have just downloaded to your computer and, in the window that opens, click first on OK and then Shop by Department.
Then select the folder where you want to extract the Tor Browser files (the program does not require a proper installation, it can be copied to any folder) and presses on Install e end to conclude the setup.
If you use a Mac, to install Tor Browser you need to open the dmg package that contains the software and drag the icon of the software into the folder Applications say macOS.
Now you need to start Tor Browser. If you are using a Windows PC, then go to the folder where you have decided to extract the program, start the link Start Tor Browser e pulsing sul pulsating Connect present in the window that opens. If you're using a Mac, double-click on the icon instead Tor borwser that you previously dragged into the folder Applications say macOS.
Now you have to wait for the connection to the Tor network to be established and for the Tor Browser to start (this will take a few seconds). The success of the operation will be signaled to you by the appearance of the message Welcome to the Tor Browser. You are now free to browse the Internet anonymously in the browser window.
Now the steps are the same on all operating systems. Then type the address of a Deep Web site in the address bar of the browser and press the button Submit on your computer keyboard to view it.
As already pointed out above, the addresses of the sites that are part of the Deep Web are hidden, so to discover them you have to go to appropriate directories or search engines. If you want some advice on where to start, try Hidden Wiki which collects a list of links to Deep Web sites constantly updated thanks to the contribution of users; with Onion URL Repository which also collects a series of very interesting links and with Torch which instead is just a search engine for the Deep Web.
Also know that to access the Deep Web correctly and securely, therefore to preserve your privacy as much as possible, it is necessary to maintain a conduct appropriate to the context. So avoid using Google to search online, do not install extensions, do not use Flash Player, Silverlight or other external plugins and do not activate i JavaScript.
Speaking of privacy: if you want to check what your IP address looks like while using Tor Browser, ie with which address they "see" you on the outside, you can use a service like WhatIsMyIP.
Once your browsing session is over, you can disconnect from the Deep Web by simply closing Tor Browser, then clicking on "x" at the top right on Windows or by pressing the combination cmd + q on Mac. All browsing data will be automatically deleted from your computer.
Access the Deep Web from smartphones and tablets
If you intend to access the Deep Web and the Dark Web from a portable device, know that there are free apps to do this on both smartphones and tablets. Here are some of the best.
Android
If you have a smartphone or tablet Android, you can access the Deep Web using the Orbot and Orfox apps: the former is a Tor client for Android, while the latter is a pre-configured web browser for anonymous browsing and access to the Deep Web. Both applications are available for free on the Play Store. To download them, therefore, all you have to do is search for them in the Google store and press first on their name and then on the button Install present nella schermata che si apre.
Once the download and installation are complete, start Orbot by pressing on its icon that has been added to the home screen, "tap" the button Start and wait for the app to connect to the Tor network. It shouldn't take long. You will be notified of successful connection to the Tor network with a message on the screen.
At this point, "tap" on the button Shop by Department Orbot and it should open automatically Orfox, through which you can browse the Deep Web as I explained earlier in the tutorial chapters dedicated to computer browsing.
After anonymous browsing, close Orfox, open Orbot again and press the button Ferme to stop the connection to the Tor network.
Please note: both Orbot and Orfox can also be found outside the Play Store, in the form of APK packages. Just turn to sites like APKMirror.
iOS
If you have one iPhone or iPad, you can access the Deep Web using the official Onion Browser app which is available for free on the App Store. To download Onion Browser on your iPhone or iPad, open theApp Store, select the scheda Searchlocated at the bottom right, search onion browser in the appropriate module located at the top and proceed with the installation of the app by pressing the button Ottieni / Installa located next to the icon of the latter.
When installation is complete, start Onion Browser, wait a few seconds for the connection to the Tor network to be established and enjoy browsing the Deep Web following the instructions I gave you in the previous paragraphs of this tutorial.
At the end of the navigation, to exit the Deep Web, simply close the application as you usually do with all the other apps used on iPone and iPad.
In case of problems and / or if you are not completely satisfied with Onion Browser, you can try Tob, another free browser for iOS pre-configured for browsing the Tor network.
