Microsoft PowerPoint (Windows / macOS)
The simplest, and also the most effective, solution for convert PowerPoint presentation to video it's the same Microsoft PowerPoint which, starting from the most recent versions (from 2013 onwards), allows you to export presentations directly in MPEG4 and WMV format. Did not you know? Well, then now you are about to find out: here are all the steps you need to take.
First, open the PPT or PPTX presentation you want to turn into video within PowerPoint and, if you are using a Windows PC, click the button Fillet which is located at the top left. Then select the item Export present on the left side of the screen and go up Create video.
At this point, you need to set the quality that the output video should have and you need to adjust the audio settings of the latter. Then expand the drop-down menu Presentation quality to choose whether to export the video at the highest quality (option Presentation quality), at an intermediate quality (option Internet quality) or in low quality (option Low quality). As can be easily understood, the higher the quality, the heavier the video you get.
Next, move to the drop-down menu with the icon of thespeaker and choose if use recorded intervals and audio commentary (to include audio from the original presentation in the output video) or if do not use recorded audio commentary and intervals (not to include audio from the original presentation in the output video).
Finally, set the number of seconds for which each slide of the presentation should be shown in the video, by typing the desired value in the field Seconds for each slide located at the bottom, and click on the button Create video.
A window will open in which you can choose the name to assign to the output video, its file format (MPEG4 o WMV, via the drop-down menu Save eat) and its destination folder. Once you have set all your preferences, click on the button Save and wait for the conversion of the PowerPoint file to finish - it may take several seconds.
The output video will keep all animations and transitions from the original PowerPoint presentation.
I use a Mac? In that case you can convert PowerPoint presentations to video, but only after the subscription to a subscription to the Office 365 service, which has a price of at least € 7,99 / month after the first month of free trial. I told you about it in more detail in my tutorial on how to download Office.
Once you have subscribed to Office 365 and activated your copy of Office through it (if you have a retail version of the suite, the video export options will not appear), open a PPT or PPTX file within Power pointgo to the menu File> Export and, in the drop-down menu File format present in the window that appears on the screen, you should also find the options for exporting to video. Leawo Free PowerPoint to Video (Windows)
If you don't currently have Microsoft PowerPoint, you can turn to Leawo Free PowerPoint to Video. It is a free software, available exclusively for Windows systems, which is capable of transforming PowerPoint PPT and PPTX files into WMV or ASF videos. There is also a more complete version, which allows you to export videos also in AVI and MP4 format, but it costs $ 69,95.
To download the free version of Leawo PowerPoint to Video, connect to the official website of the program and click on the button free Download located in the middle of the page. When the download is complete, open the Leawo Free PowerPoint to Video installation package (leawo_ppt2video_free.exe) and, in the window that appears on the screen, first click on the button Yes and then OK e NEXT. Then put the check mark next to the item I accept the terms of the license agreement, to accept the conditions of use of the software, and complete the setup by pressing first on NEXT for four consecutive times and then on Install e end.
Now, to convert PowerPoint presentations to video with Leawo Free PowerPoint to Video, start the program by double clicking on its pop-up icon on the Windows desktop and select the presentation to convert by clicking on the button. Add to).
After that, select the output format you prefer most among WMV o ASF process the menu to tendin Profile, set a level of video quality e sound quality between low, half e high using the appropriate menus located at the bottom left and first presses the button Home and then Yes to start converting the presentation.
By default, the video generated by the program is saved in the Documents folderLeawoPowerPoint to Video Free. If you want to change the route, click on the icon of the gialla poster which is next to the field Destination and indicate a folder of your preference.
Online Convert (Online)
If you don't want or can't install programs on your computer, you can convert a PowerPoint presentation to video by contacting online services. For example, I recommend you try Online Convert, which is free, requires no registration and allows you to upload files up to 100MB. Unfortunately it can't always keep the original slide animations, but for a product that works directly online it's great.
To convert a PPT or PPTX file to video with Online Convert, linked to the main page of the service, expand the drop-down menu Video converter and select the file format you intend to convert your presentation into (ex. Convert to MP4 to get a video in MP4 format). On the page that opens, click on the button Choose file to select the PPT / PPTX presentation you want to convert; adjust, if you want, the parameters of the video to be obtained (eg. bitrate, video codec, video orientation etc.) using the options under the heading Optional settings and click on the button Convert file to start uploading and then converting the file.
After the conversion is finished, the output video will be downloaded to your PC automatically. Wait for the operation to complete and do not close the browser tab until the download starts, please!
Alternative solutions
Didn't the solutions I have just indicated to you fully satisfy you? I am sorry. In any case, don't give up: I am convinced that in one way or another you will be able to convert your PowerPoint presentations into video and share them with friends and colleagues. How about, for example, start playing the slides on your PC and record the screen of the latter in order to create a video? I assure you that it is a very simple procedure and that there are many free solutions to do it.
