Access to Samsung Cloud from Samsung smartphones
The first step you need to take is to create a Samsung account, which is mandatory for theaccess to Samsung Cloud. Below, I will explain how to do it and I will show you all the steps to find the native Samsung Cloud app on your smartphone, after which I will explain how to make the most of the features offered by the latter.
Samsung account registration
As just mentioned, you need a Samsung account to access Samsung Cloud. To do this, tap on the icon Settings located on the home screen or in the notification menu (the gear), scroll the screen that opens and select the item Cloud and accounts. At this point, you will see three different items: Samsung Cloud, Account e Backup and restore: for now, you have to tap on Account.
Now, if you already have a Google account and you want to match it with Samsung's, tap on Google. Alternatively, you can use an account Office 365 or you can decide to create a new account: by choosing the latter option, a new screen will open with all the types of accounts available. Then select the item relating to Samsung Account, enter an address e-mail you use and a Password, in addition to yours name, last name and yours date of birth, and press on first NEXT and then Accept the terms of use. At this point, wait for the registration to complete and, after a few seconds, you will be notified of the success or failure of the process.
Samsung Cloud first sync
If you have followed my explanations carefully, you now have your Samsung account ready to use. Once the registration is complete, the device will automatically start Samsung Cloud starting the synchronization of applications previously downloaded from the Google Play Store and all others file in internal memory, including photos.
If, for example. you took a selfie during the day and the file is present in the Gallery of the device, you will find it in the first backup of the Samsung cloud service. The same goes for the documents you keep in the smartphone archive: the file will be correctly synchronized and backed up.
Your others synchronized data, available for a subsequent backup, will be those relating to Internet history, the reminder, program and address book. Remember that if you want to have your Calendar e Address book, you need to use them through your Samsung account. Are you wondering what this means? I'll explain it to you immediately by giving you an easy to understand example: you have recently registered a new number in the address book, saving it in your Google contacts. The number you just saved will not be synced to Samsung's Cloud but only to Google's, as it is not part of the Asian company's default account.
To associate the Android address book with your Samsung account, you need to open the native app Address book. When you are on the main screen, where there are all the contacts you have saved, tap on the icon three dots located at the top right, then select the item Settings. From the menu Phonebook settings, presses the command Move device contacts. At this point, the window will appear Move device contacts, where you will be asked to choose which account to save the contacts in: among those available there will also be theSamsung account.
To also associate the reminder of Android to your Samsung account, go to the menu Settings, touches the items in quick succession Cloud and accounts e Samsung Cloud and, when you have arrived in the Samsung Cloud menu, activate the button located next to the writing reminder. To know if you have selected it or not, make sure the button is blue.
The same speech made for contacts and reminders also applies to photos. You must always have in mind the fundamental distinction between Gallery, the default image archive application you shoot with your phone, and Google Photos. Samsung Cloud only synchronizes the photos in the Gallery, ignoring images and videos in other applications, such as Google Photos. So, before proceeding with the backup and any restoration of the data from the Samsung account on a new phone, make sure that all the desired data are in the Samsung Cloud.
Access to Samsung Cloud
Once the registration and the first synchronization have been completed, if you want to access the Samsung Cloud with your device you have to repeat the steps already followed previously for creating a Samsung account. After entering the menu of Settings, tap on first Cloud and accounts and then Samsung Cloud.
A screen will open where you can check how much memory you have occupied. That's right, you got it right. The storage space is not unlimited. If you have a free plan, you can enter data up to a maximum of 15GB, a capacity that is neither small nor generous, especially if you have a gallery with photos and videos in large quantities. If there is insufficient space, you can decide to upgrade to the 50 or 200 GB plan, which costs 0,99 and 2,99 euros per month.
When you log into Samsung Cloud, you can choose whether to keep the automatic backup or less. By default, you will find it activated. Every 24 hours a backup of the smartphone or tablet will be made, provided that the latter is connected to the Wi-Fi network or is charging with the screen off. If you deselect the automatic backup mode (by tapping the blue button next to the relevant option), you can choose independently when to save the data to the Samsung account. The only thing you will have to do is press on the command Backup Now, which you find written at the bottom of the screen.
A backup can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to complete. Its duration directly depends on how much the memory occupy the data to be uploaded to the cloud. For example, if you need to backup a few photos, it will take you a few minutes. If, on the other hand, you have a Gallery of over 1GB, you will have to wait a few hours before the Samsung Cloud completes the operation. Before backing up, you can still choose which data to review. The choice can fall on: Telephone, Clock, Home screen, Applications, Settings, Messages, Music e Documents.
If you have changed your Samsung device and want to have all the previously backed up data back on the new smartphone (necessarily another Galaxy), by accessing Samsung Cloud you have the possibility to use the function Restore, present under the heading Backup and Restore. At this point, you should already know the steps to access the service offered by the Korean giant (they are the ones I showed you previously, again in this tutorial).
For restoring old data on your new phone, look for the menu Backup and Restore and select the item Restore. Also in this case, the duration of the wait is directly proportional to the weight of the backup previously performed.
Access to Samsung Cloud from PC
Do you want to manage the photos saved on your Samsung account from your computer? I'm sorry, but I have to give you some bad news: at the moment, officially, Samsung Cloud is unusable from a PC. Technically, there is an item relating to the service on the Korean company's website (by clicking on the item Log in and logging into your Samsung account), but then when you click the mouse on it, nothing happens.
The only, partial, solution to the problem is the installation of an app created by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and available on the Windows 10: this is the Samsung Gallery, which, as easily understood, allows you to access only the photos and videos saved on the cloud service of the Asian giant.
Once the download of Samsung Gallery is complete, start it, go to the menu Settings> Samsung Cloud and log into your Samsung account. Please note that the application is only compatible with certain phones: Notes 4, 5, 8, S5, S6, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8 +.
Access to Samsung Cloud from iPhone
Have you replaced your Samsung smartphone with an iPhone and are you wondering if it is possible to recover the backup on the iPhone by logging into the Samsung Cloud? Once again I have to give you a disappointment: at the moment, the iPhone does not allow you to connect to the Samsung Cloud.
To understand this, just go up Settings, Then Account and password. From here, tap up Add account. The screen offers a variety of solutions, including iCloud, Google, and Outlook.com. In the list of services available, Samsung does not appear. Not being able to log in to the Samsung account on the iPhone, it is therefore impossible to access the Samsung Cloud.
All this does not mean, however, that they cannot transfer data from a Samsung device to an iPhone, or viceversa. For example, as far as contacts are concerned, you can follow the instructions you find in my tutorials on how to transfer contacts from Samsung to iPhone and how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Samsung phones, while for photos and videos you can use Google Photos.
Problems logging into Samsung Cloud
You just got rejected by the Samsung Cloud because you don't remember the login credentials? Don't worry, besides not being the only one, it's not an insurmountable problem either. Forget unlikely searches, hunting down missing paper notes. The solution is much simpler than you think. In fact, I'll tell you more: Samsung offers a double possibility to recover the useful login credentials, unlike the classic password reset.
After many unsuccessful attempts to enter the Cloud, click on Find ID or Reset Password. You will be redirected to a page where you can choose whether to continue with Find ID or Reset Password. If you choose the former, you will be prompted for i again personal data. After this step, click on Find ID. A page will open confirming the e-mail address used to register your account. If you recognize it, click Login Now.
Now that you have recovered the ID and can log in to the Samsung Cloud, without having to worry about looking for the password who knows where. Happy?
